are villages that were gradually demolished between 1960 and 1991,
because their properties have been designated as a water conservation area

The former wasteland was located in the upper Pegnitztal north of Ranna. The place was located in the designated in 1960 narrower protection zone of the drinking water protection area.
Ancient cultural land had to be abandoned by its inhabitants. The reason for the dissolution of the village was the supply of drinking water to the city of Nuremberg. For a long time the water of the nearby Haselhof sources no longer sufficed. New sources had to be tapped. For this the villages Fischstein, Oberbrand, Unterbrand and Rauhenstein had to be demolished. Between 1960 and 1975, all properties were broken off and the residents resettled.
At Oberbrand a monument, a boulder with the inscription remembrance of Upper and Unterbrand 1450 - 1975 was erected.
