Created by Gerard (Gerrit) van der Leeden in 2005.
It is made of Corten steel and represents six sheets of paper whirling in the wind.
These sheets contain 273 names of fishermen from Katwijk who were missing or died at sea from 1919 to 2000.
Four names of sailors who died in 2005, 2006 and 2007 were later added to the pavement in front of the monument.“Going to sea for daily bread
Ignorant about the end of their lives
No goodbye to loved ones gave this death
Only the names and memories remained”

There are actually a lot of these sculptures on site - well made and maintained.
