Impressive building with a mighty entrance. Very nicely laid out. First impression was that it is probably an important state building, until we realized that it is a hotel. Certainly nothing for the small purse.

Built from 1753 on the plans and elevations of Jacques Hardouin-Mansart de Sagonne, the Hôtel-Dieu de Marseille is a former Marseille hospital located in the Panier district. During the Marseille-Provence 2013 festivities, the Hôtel-Dieu was transformed into a 5-star hotel, managed by the British hotel group InterContinental under the name InterContinental Marseille Hotel Dieu. The renovation of the hospital into a hotel was completed on April 29, 2013. It is served by the Vieux-Port station of the Marseille metro.
