The Urdenbacher Altrhein is a stream in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Düsseldorf that flows through the Garath and Urdenbach districts. From August 2013 to March 2014, it was renatured through two openings on the western shore over a length of 2.3 km. Now the water of the Garather Mühlenbach as well as the Rhine flood Rhine water can flow into deeper areas of the Urdenbacher Kämpe and form a near-natural lake, swamp and wetland.
The Urdenbacher Altrhein is the lower reaches of the Garather Mühlenbach, which flows into an old river bed of the Rhine at Hellerhof and from there uses its course. It flows into what is now the Rhine at Urdenbach.

The Altrhein near Urdenbach is part of the Urdenbacher Kämpe nature reserve in the south of Düsseldorf. The Kämpe is one of the last floodplains on the Lower Rhine, which are regularly flooded during high water. As a so-called fauna-flora-habitat area, it has a high rank among the European nature reserves. Since April 2014, the Urdenbach Altrhein has been flowing back into its old bed after many years of planning. After a short time, there were numerous positive effects on the flora and fauna, which are scientifically monitored and documented. Information boards were developed with citizen participation.
