The Hasselbach originates above the Simonsbrander Weg and flows with its headwaters through the area in near-natural structures. The striking Hasselbachgraben, running from east to west, with its marginal footpath, belongs to the catchment area of the Dreilägerbachtalsperre and was created in 1920. It begins below Raffelsbrand and flows into the Dreilägerbachtalsperre after about eight kilometers.
Here, not far from the confluence with the Dreilägerbachtalsperre, there is a gauge (water level indicator). Unfortunately, due to the heat and drought of recent years, there is hardly any water left.
