The tower was built on the instigation of Grand Duchess Maria Pawlowna on the formerly unwooded, 300 m high Hainberg in the Belvedere Forest. He got a height of 13.7 m with a diameter of 5.6 m.After a fire in 1908, founded the Hainturmgesellschaft, rebuilt the tower until 1909 and developed it into a popular destination. In 1930 the tower was extended by a dining room with a terrace.1946, the Hainturmgesellschaft was banned, from 1953 there was no more management, and the tower fell into disrepair. In 1999, the Hainturmgesellschaft Weimar was re-established with the aim of restoring the tower and its surroundings. The Haint Tower was then rebuilt with three floors and a viewing platform. It is connected to two adjacent observation towers - the Paulinen Tower and the Carolinenurm (near Kiliansroda) - via the 26-kilometer Three-Towers Trail.
