Storetorv 4 is the remaining building from one of the city's large merchants' yards; The merchant I.A. Schmidt had been running a comprehensive wholesale business here since the mid-19th century, including grain and animal feed.
The central entertainment establishment "Colloseum", where the shipbuilders celebrated their launching, was housed in house Storetorv 2.
Storegade 38 housed the studio of the well-known Danish painter Franciska Clausen in its square tower room.
