The Redergården (Reederhof) Storetorv 9, with a triangular fronton supported by two half-columns, got its neoclassical appearance around 1820 when the building was taken over by the shipowner Jørgen Bruhn. Jørgen Bruhn was the most outstanding citizen of Aabenraa in the 19th century. He was the largest shipowner in Schleswig-Holstein and the third largest in the Kingdom of Denmark. When the Danish King Fredrik VII visited the duchies, he was a guest at Jørgen Bruhn. In 1864 the building served as the headquarters of the Prussian High Command
