Designed by local architect Xing Tonghe,[2] the building is designed in the shape of an ancient bronze cooking vessel called a ding. It is said that the inspiration for the design was specifically provided by the Da Ke ding, now on exhibit in the museum. The building has a round top and a square base, symbolizing the ancient Chinese perception of the world as "round sky, square earth" (Chinese: 天圆地方[8]).

(latest entry at 16:00). Glosed on Mordays (except. on national holidays).
• Entry cn workdays (Tuesday to Friday) does not require a reservation, During peak times including weekends, national holidays, January, February, July, August, and certain special exhibitions, reservations are still requirea.

With its round upper floor on a square base, the art museum reflects the ancient Chinese worldview of a round sky above a square earth. The four semicircular "handles" on the roof are reminiscent of the handles of an ancient tripod cult vessel of the Ding type. Exciting architecture, great art exhibitions and a beautiful, adjacent park invite you to linger.
