Taking the train for a 30 minute ride to Jurmala. And its beach at the Baltic Sea.
Cute little town. Jomqs Street is what you expect for a tourist beach town, but enjoyable nonetheless. And the beach stretches forever: fine white sand, cafes and beach bars. Easy to spend a fun and/or relaxing time here.

And it was a great decision. Riga is a beautiful old Hanse-Town and large oarts if the ild town have been restored.
Went out for a random walk after breakfast and before our guided introduction tour ... and ended up almost doing the same route twice 🤭

A weekend in Hong Kong. Trying something off the beaten tracks: Lamma Island.
Starting from Ferry Pier #4 in Central we took the ferry to Yung Shue Wan. It is a small village in the north west of the island, and offers plenty of cafes and restaurants to spend some time before (or after ) the hike. Walking

After we met (wife and friends arrived by car, I had cycled from Shanghai) we went for a stroll through this small but charming old watertown. Enjoyed lunch, a small gallery, a museum, some coffee, and just the sights and casual vibes. And this bike + drive arrangement really works well. We will probably do more of these :-)

Todays morning plan: the Erawan Museum. Easy going by BTS, two stations in a 15 minute walking distance ... but already well above 30°C before noon and need to walk along a busy major highway. No joy at all.
But the museum is magnificent. It is a private collection. The most obvious feature is the pink

We didn't plan the visit to Riga around these dates for these festivities. We just wanted to escape the heat in Cologne. But ended up lucky and having the chance to enjoy a beer, some dancing, praying to some Pagan gods and lighting the fire 😎
