Now that the railway line to Wuppertal is (almost) fully open again for rail traffic, I decided to travel to Wuppertal by train and then cycle back to Cologne.
I traveled with the regional express to Oberbarmen. From the station there, a short stretch along the federal highway to the start of the Schwarzbachtrasse

For my time in China, the Defy was with a friend 'in care' for regular rides ;-). She is totally thrilled with the bike. She says she sits more comfortably, has the impression that the 28mm tires make a difference for comfort, finds the slightly narrower handlebars and the slightly turned-in shift/brake

The tour across the fields to Burg Satzvey last week was enjoyable. That's why I had planned another tour around Lechenich and Liblar. Yesterday evening, I decided to reschedule it...
This morning, I loaded the (supposed) route onto my Wahoo and set off. Passing the Holzstrasse, I thought, "Hmm, didn

Because I managed a climb two days ago, I thought I'd do it again today. I still find going uphill stupid, but the view was great.
And past the airport from Grengel to Altenrath it also goes steadily uphill. Now I also understand why I was so fast in the opposite direction last week 🤭. Unfortunately

Inclines are not my strength. But if I want to get better, I probably have to tackle them... I've been told that the Bergisches Land offers climbs and descents ;-).
I only had the segments displayed on Komoot. Selected a few and then somehow cobbled together the transitions and connections. With mixed

A new direction for me. I've been to the Erft several times before, but then further towards Zülpich and Euskirchen is new territory for me... at least on the bike. I chose Satzvey Castle as my destination.
It was nice too. Long stretches on paved paths through the fields. Even nicer without wind, but

Last night I mounted the road wheels with 28mm tires on my gravel bike. I noticed that the gravel bike has 160mm brake discs at the rear, while the road bike only has 140mm... so I quickly converted the brake discs as well.
The narrow tires look very lost in the front fork... there is so much space around

In my opinion, sunrises are more beautiful than sunsets. The air is still fresh, the streets and paths are empty.

It was confirmed in places that sand is not your friend, neither uphill nor downhill. At least not when you are

I based the route planning on a suggestion from Komoot

Again, we used the early morning and the forests around the Otto-Maigler-See to a) avoid the heat and b) have fun off the roads.
I searched in vain for a small path and then had a lot of fun on a forest path unknown to me.
Also, I was home in time to make the much-desired American pancakes for my godchildren.

My wife is unfortunately not that enthusiastic about cycling, but she suggested we go for a ride together. I'm not saying no to that :-)
Through the Vorgebirgspark and a bit around the Kalscheurer Weiher, then back. Then she gave me another half hour which I then rode around the Decksteiner Weiher. I
