Not really a castle, but an extensive castle complex and perhaps the most beautiful corner of the city if you want to stroll around a bit.

The Friedberg Castle complex ("Friedberg Castle") is considered one of the largest castle complexes in Germany.
Since it is primarily used by private individuals, including a high school, government offices, and residential buildings, nothing can be visited except the tower and the park. A stroll through the park is worthwhile.

The main building was built between 1604 and 1610 in the High Renaissance style. It initially served as the burgrave's official residence - hence the name Burggrafiat. After the castle was transferred to Hesse, the Hessian Grand Dukes used the castle as a “summer residence”.

In 1990 a major fire destroyed Friedberg Castle; only the outer walls remained. Today, however, the Renaissance building, also known as Kronberger Hof, has been restored to its former glory and houses the employees of the tax authority.
