The baroque Stadtpalais is located in the center of Weimar on Theaterplatz. Long-time resident of the Wittumspalais was the Duchess Anna Amalia of Saxe-Weimar and Eisenach. It acquired the Palais in 1774, after the Residenzschloss had become uninhabitable by a devastating fire.

The baroque city palace in the center of Weimar was the widow's seat of Duchess Anna Amalia of Saxe-Weimar and Eisenach for many years until 1807. Their famous evening parties took place here. With its furnishings, the regent's former living room is one of the most authentic rooms that reflect the home decor around 1800.
