In 2024, the church looks as if it is only being roughly preserved. From the vestibule at the entrance, however, you get a good impression of the church's former importance. The tower has belonged to the old town hall, which is located on the former monastery grounds, for some time.

"After the Franciscans had built a monastery around 1278, a church in the Gothic style was added to it from 1280 onwards. This was consecrated on 25 March 1297 in the presence of the Hungarian King Andrew III. The outer walls of the nave and the apse from this period have been preserved. On the north side, a Gothic chapel dedicated to John the Baptist from the 14th century has been added. It is modeled on the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris and served as a crypt for the city judge's family.

The church tower was added at the end of the 14th century. The cross vault collapsed in 1590 after an earthquake, and was then rebuilt in the Renaissance style from 1613 to 1616. In 1745/46, a large part of the church was given a Baroque makeover, and in 1756 a pulpit in the Rococo style was added. The main altar and the two side altars. In 1897, the church tower had to be replaced due to structural damage after an earthquake, and the spire was then erected in Janko Kráľ Park in the Petržalka district."

From the front you can only see the tower, so go in and look at the monastery/courtyard.
