Farský kostol sv. Jána z Mathy / Trinitarian Church, Bratislava / Pressburg
The official name of this church is the parish church of St. John of Matha and St. Felix of Valois.
Thanks to its connection with the Trinitarian Order, it is better known as the Church of the Holy Trinity. It is a baroque church in the old town of Bratislava on the town square called župné námestie.
    History of the church
The Trinity Church was built on the site of the older St. Michael Church, which the city's defenders had demolished in 1529 during the Turkish wars along with the St. Michael settlement so that they could have a better view of the attacking Turks. In 1717, the Trinitarian Order began building a new church, which was consecrated ten years later. At the same time, the order also built a monastery next to the church. In 1782, Emperor Joseph II had the Trinitarian Order dissolved in his "monastery storm" and the building was given to the Gau Office; however, this did not meet the needs of this office and so the monastery was almost completely demolished. Today it is only one of the parish churches of the Bratislava Archdiocese.

The church was built in the first half of the 18th century in the spirit of high baroque on the site of the former parish church of St. Michael. The Church of St. Peter in Vienna. It was built by the order of the Trinitarians, it is dedicated to one of its founders, St. John of Matha. The church has an oval layout with an inserted lateral axis and a concavely curved backdrop of the facade, which makes it part of the line of dynamic baroque. The church towers did not originally have the current low roofs, but high baroque roofs, which are shown on several contemporary views of the city. The oval nave of the church is covered by a dome, which is decorated with illusory frescoes by the Italian painter and decorator Antonio Galli Bibiena (1736–1740). On the massive main altar by A. G. Bussi, there is an altar painting depicting the founders of the Order of St. John of Matha and Felix Valois redeeming slaves from Turkish captivity. The painting is the work of František Xaver Palko from the period after 1745. Statues of St. Agnes and St. Catherines on the sides of the altar are attributed to the Bavarian sculptor Johann Baptist Straub. The side canopy altar of the Virgin Mary was made in 1736 by Count Ziči. In the center is a copy of the Regensburg painting of the Madonna. The altar is decorated with sculptures of angels holding a canopy. In the right part of the presbytery, there is a marble epitaph of a currently unidentified member of the Szirmay family with the family coat of arms.
