The Berlin-Spandau shipping canal is 12 km long and connects the rivers Havel and Spree and is located entirely within the Berlin urban area. It was built between 1848 and 1859 and further expanded between 1906 and 1914. The above name is the official one. The older name was Hohenzollern Canal.
