"The Berlin Wall is coming to Rasdorf - a rare original piece was able to be snatched away by the Berlin Senate," reported Martin Hohmann (CDU), a member of the Bundestag from East Hesse today. The legendary "anti-fascist protective wall" of the inhuman SED dictatorship was largely "crumbled" after 1989 by the so-called wall woodpeckers. In Berlin, apart from two sections of the wall in a central location that have been declared monuments, only a few elements remained. The Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development is keeping these under lock and key as a precautionary measure. Hohmann successfully approached the federal government and the Berlin Senate to obtain a segment of the wall for the large exhibition and information complex that is currently being built on the Thuringian side of the "Point Alpha" memorial and meeting place.

Contemporary history in stone! This original segment of the Berlin Wall is located directly in front of the "House on the Border".
According to the information board, this is a gift from the Berlin Senate to the Point Alpha Foundation.
