The wide hiking trail runs directly between the calmly flowing Ruhr and the wide, renatured meadows. From here you have a nice view over the water and over to the Mülheim youth hostel. In the meadows you can also observe many different waterfowl and migratory birds throughout the year.

From this point you have a good view of the former youth hostel building on Kahlenberg from the Ruhr cycle path. However, the history goes back even further, as there was a restaurant there from 1890 onwards, as the banks of the Ruhr were already inviting people to stroll. After its use as a youth hostel was discontinued and the building became a listed building, it was converted in 2010 and luxury apartments were set up.

The former Kahlenberg youth hostel is located above the banks of the Ruhr in Mülheim in an idyllic and almost picture-perfect location. The almost 125-year-old building is a listed building and was restored in a complex process and converted into luxurious condominiums.
