A steep slope on the natural course of the river Enz with special geological, microclimatic and landscape-historical characteristics: nutrient-poor grasslands, meager meadows, rocks, habitat of rare and endangered plant and animal species.

Individual trees and a meadow worth protecting with great views can be seen here on the paths. There are a few benches for a rest. In the nature reserve, you shouldn't just sit down on the meadow.

... the nature reserve "Kammertenberg" is 13.8 ha part of the Lomersheim district and 3.7 ha part of the Mühlhausen district. After an eventful history, both districts are now districts of the large district town of Mühlacker in the Enzkreis.
    The name of the area is also the most important winning name of the area. It should be traced back to the originally Roman "chamber education" of the vines on wooden scaffolding, which was still widespread in the Rheinpfalz at the beginning of the 20th century;
This is supported by the unusual emphasis on the first syllable: one speaks of the “Kámmertenberg” on site. The Enz cut its way 70 m deep into the Upper Muschelkalk and created a landscape-defining, widely visible slope with a gradient of up to 38% that is barely accessible.
    Purpose of protection
... is the preservation, security and development
    1. the steep slope and the natural course of the Enz river with its special geological, microclimatic and historically significant features
    2. the rocks, rubble heaps, sinkholes, stone bars, poor grasslands, lean meadows and bushes, the deciduous forests created in natural succession and the forests thinned out in favor of the grasslands as individual formations and habitats of the populations, some of which are specially adapted, rare and endangered animal species across the country and plant species.
The protection purpose is also the preservation, safeguarding and development of the habitat types occurring in the area from Appendix I of the Habitats Directive,
    especially the habitat types
    • Rivers with flooding underwater vegetation
    • Near-natural dry lime grass
    • Moist tall herbaceous vegetation
    • Lean, lowland hay meadows
    • Calcareous debris heaps
    • Limestone cliffs with crevice vegetation
    • Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior,
and the protection of the Spanish flag, a butterfly species listed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive.

The narrow path over the Kammertenberg nature reserve is really beautiful and a great atmosphere, especially in the evening sun. A really beautiful piece of nature!

The Kammertenberg is a meandering elevation in the valley of the Enz flowing into the Neckar between the districts of Mühlacker Mühlhausen and Lomersheim. It extends with a length of about 1.5 kilometers from north to south and appears from the valley perspective from Lomersheim as a table mountain with a steep slope exposed to the west and sparse, Mediterranean-looking vegetation. Geologically, it consists of layers of the upper shell limestone and the lower Keuper with little layer falling to the north.
