    Hiking

The settlement history of Lienzingen stretches back over 2000 years. The town is located on an old transport route that was already used by the Romans. From the early Middle Ages to modern times, one of the most important and busiest trade routes from southern Germany to the Main ran through the town. The historic town center is particularly impressive.

There are examples from almost all eras of historical timber construction. Densely lined up along the streets, they form a cohesive ensemble that only a few other villages in Baden-Württemberg can boast of. Today's townscape extends at least back to the late Middle Ages in terms of its extent and the arrangement of the houses. Since the 15th/16th Century multi-part farmsteads characterize the townscape.

Lienzingen, a district of Mühlacker, is known for its historic center, which is protected as an Etterdorf. The town center consists of a barn ring and well-preserved half-timbered houses. Also here is the oldest known rural residential building in the Karlsruhe district, built around 1441 and extensively converted into the Zum Nachtwächter restaurant in the 1990s.
