The lined ditch is a hydraulic relic from 1426. At that time there was a plan to divert the Röthenbach to Nuremberg. After construction began, it was noticed that the high costs contrasted with rather low benefits. Therefore the construction was stopped. 850 meters of the structure are still preserved (with interruptions). The fed ditch got its name because of the lining of the ditch with a layer of clay that was supposed to prevent the water from seeping into the ground.
