The Kulch is a wooded hilltop on the Banzer mountain with 483 meters altitude. It is a part of the iron mountain limestone witness mountain landscape that rises above the flat, clayey Alb foreland as a remnant of remnants. The mountain is constructed of 40 m thick iron sandstone. This was once much appreciated as silver sand for silver cleaning. After the Kulch the 1331 m long tunnel Kulch of the ICE route Bamberg Erfurt is named, which does not break through the Kulch, but the Liasland west of Altenbanz at the feet of the Kulch.
