The Staffelberg is a 539 m above sea level. NHN high witness mountain in front of the Franconian Jura in the so-called Gottesgarten on the Obermain.
It is the local mountain of Bad Staffelstein in the Upper Franconian district of Lichtenfels.
The name of the elevation derives from the pronounced terrain levels (“staffs”), which provide a revealing insight into the geological history of the Jurassic period.
From the Neolithic Age (around 5000 BC) to the Roman Empire (approx. 350 to 420 AD), the mountain was populated several times.
During the La Tène period, the Celtic oppidum Menosgada was located on the high plateau of the Staffelberg.
Today there is the Staffelbergklause with a beer garden and the Adelgundis chapel, built in 1653.(Source: Wikipedia)

The Staffelberg is always a worthwhile hiking destination. The view from above is wonderful, but also from below, if you can see the striking mountain from afar, its sight is a nice photo motif.
