About Wanderaugenblick™🥾

Sunday Adventure in the Thuringian Forest

Today I took advantage of the combination of train and hiking: I travelled via DB Regio Bayern to Sonneberg and then took the Süd-Thüringen-Bahn to Neuhaus am Rennweg.

From there, I started my hike to the Scheibe-Alsbach reservoir. On beautiful forest paths, I

Hiking for German Unity Day: On Forbidden Paths! 🇩🇪🚶

Today is a very special day for a hike! For German Unity Day, I'm lacing up my boots for a historic stage of the Rennsteig.

It goes from Steinbach am Wald to Ernstthal am Rennsteig. Why is this route so special?

During the GDR era, the Rennsteig trail

The KU81 Auenweg (Auenweg) near Mainleus leads for approximately 11 kilometers through the green heart of the Mainaue (Main River floodplain) – a tranquil natural paradise in the Franconian Forest. The trail is almost entirely flat and offers plenty of variety: narrow paths along the Main River, wet

I've done it. 44.3 kilometers around Helmbrechts are behind me. Like every year, it's an event you just have to experience.

As a little prelude to the upcoming Franconian Forest Hiking Marathon in Helmbrechts, this tour covers parts of the 2023 route. The start and finish point is Untersteinach train station. From there, the trail initially climbs toward Guttenberg, whose castle towers picturesquely above the town. The trail

This approximately 22.5km circular tour starts in Mainleus and follows the marked Buchauer Weg (RWF 65) through the diverse low mountain landscape of the Franconian Forest. The trail connects quiet forest passages, open meadows, and cultural highlights.

Sights along the route include the listed Tanzlinde

From Stammbach to Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg

The hike started at Stammbach train station and first led to Marienweiher, one of Bavaria's oldest pilgrimage sites. There, the baroque basilica, with its long history as a destination for many pilgrims, is impressive. A detour to the Peterlestein was originally planned
