  • The park is not very big at around 10 hectares, but it has a lot to offer. It was opened in September 1911 under the name Beyendorfpark. Named after the first mayor of Lankwitz, Rudolf Beyendorf (1876-1947), who played a key role in making the small community of Lankwitz a popular suburb of Berlin. Lankwitz has been a district of Berlin since 1920. Since Beyendorf refused to join the NSDAP, the park was renamed Lankwitz Community Park by the Nazis in 1939. The garden architect Carl Rimann was responsible for the design of the park. Among other things, he built a 300-meter-long toboggan run, which became a major attraction. There is still a toboggan run. It doesn't seem particularly spectacular to me, though. The hill is only 13 meters high. A fairly modest "hill" even by Berlin standards.
