About Kerstin🌲🥾

An guten Tagen
Gibt es nur hier und jetzt
Schau' ich nicht links und rechts
Vielleicht nach vorn, doch nie zurück
An guten Tagen
Ist unser Lachen echt
Und alle Fragen weg
Auch wenn's nur jetzt und nicht für immer ist

The place Hude and the monastery lie between Oldenburg and Bremen on a typical landscape border for northern Germany, the transition from Geest to moor and marshland.
The ruins of the former monastery church (north German brick Gothic), the gate chapel (today the parish church), the abbey (today the manor house), the brewery (today the monastery tavern) and some farm buildings still stand from the once important and mighty monastery complex. The monuments are embedded in an idyllic landscape park based on English garden architecture. In the immediate vicinity of the ruins is our museum, in which you can learn more about the origins, heyday and decline of the Cistercian monastery.

Today is our day of the journey home, we made another STOP TOUR to the small village of Reiherholz on the Witte Moor.We started at a small private animal enclosure 🐖🐐🐓.
The signs led us straight along the maize field until the path turns right.
At the bend we come across an informative board that provides information about the moor. The sign points to the left in the direction of Bohlenweg. We follow the path and thus reach a replica of a prehistoric boardwalk.
It is indeed difficult to walk on these planks. Now you stand in front of the line and you should be out there with wooden slippers. Some boards tell about the story. Here is also a nice place for a rest before going into the moor.
      Prehistoric plank path (replica)
After the rest, continue on the same route. At a refuge, a bridge leads to the right over the stream. The actual moor now lies in front of us. Time and again there are good information boards about the history, flora and fauna of the moor.
Finally, a small viewing platform at the edge of the path gives a good view of the moor and a small moor lake. With a little patience you can watch the bird life here.

At the end of the day we really enjoyed the North Sea air with everything that goes with it.At 10 o'clock we went to Ruhwarden with the beach walker bus, from here our tour starts. It started at the former dairy, which is now a shop for horse accessories. Our route led through Ruhwarden and on over roadways to the dike crossing, today we should go to the Langwarder Groden National Park again. With a tail wind, the path led along the salt marshes to the entrance to the Langwarder Groden National Park.
We really felt the North Sea weather today, but we were prepared.
We went over boarded paths in the national park and this afternoon the tide was announced, so we stayed there for a while, despite rain and wind.
Then it went back via Fedderwardersiel, where the harbor was already a bit flooded. Our plan was back to Burhave along the sea, but it didn't work because the water flooded the riverside path, so we took the upper path back.
The natural spectacle was quite an experience.

Today we took the Butjadingen citizen bus to Eckwarderhörne. From Eckwarderhörne we made a nice circular hike. Our path first led a little along the dike and then we crossed the interior of the country on dirt roads and on roads past lonely farms, cow pastures and paddocks. We passed through small towns with beautiful old historical buildings. Then the path led us to cross the dike again and we then took a longer break right by the sea, very few people were on the way here ... we continued along the sea to the starting point. We took the citizens' bus to Fedderwardersiel to eat fish sandwiches, we could watch her as the fishing trawler drove into the harbor with lots of freshly caught crabs on board. It was very interesting to watch the unloading. 👍🏼
From here we walked back to Burhave.

Today our last bike tour went to the Seefelder Mühle and the floating moor, two very nice destinations to end.History of Seefelder Mühle
Originally, the Seefeld mill stood next to two others in Oldenburg at the traffic jam. The exact location can unfortunately not be determined today, but there are contemporary representations that show these three mills in today's port area of the old Oldenburg.
In 1874 the mill was sold to Seefeld, which was nothing unusual. It was quite common not to tear down the valuable carpentry, but to rebuild it in another place and continue to use it.
      Floating moor
The floating moor or Sehestedter outer dike moor is a unique natural monument located on the Jade Bay in the municipality of Jade (Wesermarsch district) near the Sehestedt district. The bog is the only outer dike bog in the world and is counted among the flood bogs today. It has been part of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park since 1986. Before it was part of the "Jade Bay Bird Sanctuary" under nature protection.
