Here is an important branch of the Radschnellweg Ruhr (RS1), the direction Grugapark leads and in the further course to Ruhrtalradweg. And with that, there are many more opportunities on the well-developed cycle path network to explore the Ruhr area largely car-free.

The 300 m rail route was completed a few years ago and enables a 17 km car-free connection between Mülheim Hbf and Essen-Steele Ost. Like the western part of the Gruga-Weg a water-bound ceiling. but meanwhile no longer tends to become muddy. . Magnificent views of the allotment gardens in the Essen-West railway triangle and the districts on the Essen-Mülheim city limits.
Unfortunately harassment due to tight post barriers.

In the direction of Mühlheim it goes slightly downhill, in the direction of downtown Essen slightly uphill!

The Grugaradweg is a great route in the green capital Essen. Unfortunately very staulastig. Then the bike needs a thorough shower, but good to drive.

Caution. The route towards Gruga and further to Steele consists mostly of gravel. Not recommended for racing bikes.

The relic from earlier days reminds us that you are traveling on former railway lines here.
