The Penguin Colony is a place recommended for a visit on every first trip to Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope. On every guided tour to the Cape it is also a scheduled stop. Despite the plethora of tourists it brings, it's a fabulous place, with turquoise blue sea and lots of cute penguins!

This stretch of coastline south of Simon's Town is so named for the large rounded granite outcrops that have withstood the weathering of the sea better than the formerly overlying sandstone formations of the Table Mountain massif. The (African) Penguin Colony. In 1983 a lonely pair of penguins was found here under the sheltered bushes. In the meantime, these have multiplied and attracted other families, so that now more than 2,000-3,000 African penguins cavort on the small stretch of beach.

They created it nicely with the paths to the penguins. The entrance fee is quite decent, but this way you can keep the tourists away from the penguins in an orderly fashion. But you can also walk a little further and see the penguins there - undisturbed by the bus tourists:)
