The statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin stands on Gwanghwamun Square. These are the 16th century Korean war hero Admiral Yi Sun-sin. He temporarily led the Korean naval forces during the Imjin War between 1592 and 1598 and contributed significantly to the defense of the Japanese invasion.

It is considered one of the main landmarks of Seoul.
