Geunjeongjeon Hall was the throne room of the palace and is one of South Korea's national treasures. It was built in 1867 to replace the original throne room, which burned down in 1592 during the Japanese invasion. It served as a symbol of the sovereignty of the Jeseon rulers and was a royal and state venue.
