The picturesque Bukchon Hanok Village is located in a hilly area north of the Cheonggyecheon River between two royal palaces, Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace.

Bukchon means "northern village," and a hanok is a traditional wooden house.

Bukchon Hanok Village is one of the few places in the country where these traditional wooden houses can still be found.

The area would be nice to look at, but the houses are not a museum, but a residential area. There are lots of signs to indicate this. The rules are that visitors are only allowed between 10am and 5pm, never on Sundays, and preferably without making a sound.
