The place appears for the first time in 1383 with the name of Otto von Mengersdorf zu Mengersdorf. A knight's seat is mentioned for the first time in 1499. Presumably, however, a raised hide existed here before. Destruction, dilapidation and extensive renovation measures characterize the history of the castle. In 1811 the entire complex is described as dilapidated. Hans von Aufseß mentioned it for the last time. In 1830 he reports on the castle in Mengersdorf, which had been uninhabited for a long time and was almost completely destroyed. After that it was probably canceled. The building, known today as the castle, was a commercial building of the manor with a brewery, stables and apartment. Today the manor has been restored and is operated as a restaurant.
