At the historic location, in the west wing of the old hunting lodge, is the headquarters of the castle stud today. Modern and historical stables enable performance-oriented horse breeding with award-winning successes and also offer space for numerous four-legged guests. A little further, adjacent to the castle park, is the riding hall, which is unique in its architectural style. Horses and riders can do their training in any weather on approx. 800 m² of sandy soil. Between the castle and the riding arena, the sand court invites you to go horse riding when the weather is nice.

The planning and execution of the imposing riding arena behind the old hunting lodge took place under the leadership of the Wermsdorf master builder Richard Liebers. Construction began in 1932 and completed in 1934. The natural stone plinth made of slabs from the Wermsdorf quarry gives the riding arena its special appearance in connection with the unusual shape of the roof structure (tail plank technique). With the wide, column-free roof with a span of more than 10 meters, the technique of the "tail plank roof" from the late 18th century had been rediscovered and further developed to perfection. After completion in 1934, the building used the Saxon riding and driving school housed in the old hunting lodge.

In 1945 the riding school dissolved. The hall then served various purposes. Today it is used by the Wermsdorf riding and driving club and the castle stud.

The riding hall, which is parallel to the road, was built between 1932 and 1934. The base was made of granite porphyry from the Wermsdorf quarry. Today the hall is used by the Wermsdorf Riding and Driving Club and the castle stud farm.
