The 48 hectare park on the Ilm is a unique landscape garden on the edge of Weimar's old town. Duke Carl August and Johann Wolfgang Goethe realized their garden art ideas here. They created an accessible work of art with varied landscapes, park architecture and seating, which is still used today for recreation, education and the aesthetic enjoyment of nature."Weimar is actually a park in which a city is located."
Writer Adolf Stahr, 1871The creation of the park on the Ilm is closely linked to Goethe's life and work in Weimar. In 1776, Duke Carl August gave the poet a house with a garden, known today as the Goethe Garden House in the Park on the Ilm. In the period that followed, Goethe and Carl August worked together to plan the first facilities in the new English style between the city, castle and Goethe's garden house. From 1778 onwards, the design of the western Ilmhang with its woody backdrops, walking paths and park architecture was created. The building of the Roman House, completed in 1797, marks the climax of the park's development after the extensive park extension to the south and the integration of older palace gardens. The Park an der Ilm is an external location of the BUGA Erfurt 2021.klassik-stiftung.de/park-an-der-ilm

Today through the Bachra forest past the Rosenmühle to the Way of the Cross and back again. There were far too many people on the road today due to a devotion ... with too many cars. We could still walk the path in peace, then the peace was over.
Even if you are not a believer (like me 😇), or maybe you belong to another belief, I find that this way of the cross is a place of silence and somehow also a place of power.
The forest looks bad at times.

Our tour led us from the alms through the Rastenberg forest past the viaduct and the bridal oak to the Harschbach to marvel at the Märzenbecher. Unfortunately, the battery failed from there and no longer recorded the route to the fish ponds in the Tiefen Tal and on to Ulrichsruh back to the Almose. This is why the route and time are not right. In terms of the route, it was more, but more in 🐌tempo. Nonetheless, it was a nice stretch and the knee held out. 💪
