"... The Kriekhausener Höfe are located north of the A 46 motorway between Elp in the west and Stropmütze in the east. This is where the Scheidebach rises, which first flows through the Elp-Kieshött area, then Mahnertmühle and flows into the Hühnerbach at Kemperdiek (Hochdahl).
Kriekhausen is one of the oldest and largest Haan court settlements in the Ellscheid district. Around 1350 two farms are listed by name in an income list of the Schlickum estate near Millrath as 'Kriechusen'. (Ellscheid had previously belonged to Erkrath.) One farm had to pay three shillings and a hen, the other four Brabant denarii. According to Vollmar, one shilling or solidus was equivalent to about thirty denarii or pfennigs. Back then, a master craftsman earned around nine pfennigs a day. A bread cost about two pfennigs. So the burden from the Schlickumer List was not very high.
In 1387 the court 'Krieghuissen van Osterwalt' (= probably 'Kriekhausen vom Osterholz') is mentioned in a register of the court association Obschwarzbach bei Mettmann belonging to the monastery Kaiserswerth.

Accordingly, the Kriekhausen residents had owned the rights to the Ittertaler Schleifkotten.
In 1715 Ploennies marked the settlement of Kriekhausen with four independent farms (three larger, one smaller) on his topographical map.
1809 is given for Kriekhausen 52 inhabitants. This made Kriekhausen the largest court in the parish of Haan.
At least in the period 1837-1847 the weaver, day laborer and miner Johann Heinrich Breidt, brother of V.17 Anna Catharina Breidt, lived in Kriekhausen. ... "
