The Hohe Berg (159 m) is a former trachyte quarry, the output of which was used until the twentieth century to erect many buildings in the surrounding cities and communities, e.g. for the gate construction of the town of Heusenstamm. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torbau_(Heusenstamm)
Today the quarry area is used by the hunters' association St. Hubertus in Offenbach as a training and shooting range.
There is a water tank on the east side of the mountain.

The Hohe Berg is 159 meters above sea level. high elevation in the forest between Heusenstamm and Sprendlingen. Trachyte was mined in the quarry on the west side of the mountain until the 1960s, so large parts of the site are inaccessible. The Hohebergschneise coming from Heusenstamm ends at the building of a water reservoir.
In the forest southeast of the mountain there are some trails on the Lohschneise.

In terms of geological history, the "Hohe Berg" was created in the Tertiary about 300 million years ago. It was then that the rough outline of Europe was formed. It consists of trachyte, a volcanic outflow rock that came up before the basalts. Over the course of millions of years, erosion created soft crests from these effusions. Trachyte is derived from the Greek word "trachys", which means rough. As the rock cooled, tiny, irregular cavities formed from escaping gas. If the stone is broken, these cavities give the stone a rather rough, jagged appearance.
