Ich lebe im Rhein-Main Gebiet
Today we were in the autumn forest in the immediate vicinity of our home, looking for edible mushrooms, sufficient exercise and lots of fresh air.The yield of food from the forest was quite manageable, but the wonderful sunlight, the mild temperatures and all the beautiful colors easily made up for it.

The Tegeler Fließ is a stream that meanders through the landscape in the Berlin urban area over a length of 14.5 km, largely close to nature.Extensive meadows, but also alder swamps and gray willow bushes line the river and form one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Berlin. Thanks to its structural wealth, the area is home to an abundance of bird life, including some species protected throughout the EU, and it is an important habitat for amphibian and reptile species.Since spring 2015 there have been water buffalos to be seen in the nature reserve, which are used as landscape conservationists. The paths along the stream are partly designed as plank walkways and are suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists. There are also several bridges to cross the small body of water. We started the hike in Berlin-Waidmannslust after a good lunch at the Italian restaurant "Romana".If you are looking for a cheap and also good overnight accommodation in the north of Berlin, the "Landhaus im Grünen" and its 15 rooms are the best choice. Three years ago we booked a spacious and quiet room there for a week and can absolutely recommend the house. landhausberlin.de/willkommen

The palm garden: Mediterranean oasis in the cityToday a visit to the 22 hectare palm garden in the middle of Frankfurt City was on our agenda.Impressive were the enormous leaves of the giant Victoria water lilies, the variety and the colorful life in the butterfly house and of course the palm house, which was opened in 1869.As always, we were fascinated by the colors of the dahlia blossoms and so many new installations, some with sound, wanted to be discovered.palmengarten.de/de/gaerten/palmengarten.html?no_cache=1
