The Zuivelbrug is a bridge over the Leie in Ghent. The bridge is part of the Zuivelbrugstraat that connects the Kraanlei and the rest of the Patershol via the Meerseniersstraat or the Grootkanonplein with the Vrijdagmarkt.

The name refers to the dairy market that used to be held on the Vrijdagmarkt for the sale of butter, eggs and cheese. The Meerseniersstraat was then still called the Suvelsteghe, the bridge was later referred to as the Suvelbrug.

However, the first name of the wooden bridge at that time was the Boudinsbrug from its construction in the 13th century until 1476, after Boudins, who lived in the Suvelsteghe. From 1363 to 1426 the bridge was rebuilt, in stone. The passage of larger ships meant that a swing bridge was placed between 1751 and 1754, which was also adapted and repaired several times. The bridge was unable to open between 1968 and 1987. On July 1, 1987, a new metal swing bridge was inaugurated. In 2013, the plank floor was renewed and the bridge restored through Waterwegen and Zeekanaal.

Connecting bridge between the mythical closed Patershol and the bustling city life. Two city districts bridge each other here.

From the Zuivelbrug bridge over the Leie River, you'll see the Dulle Griet (Mad Meg) on your left. This impressive wrought-iron cannon was long used as a garbage can or a sleeping place for lost drunks, so the barrel has now been sealed. It has stood in the same spot for 425 years and has never fired.
Once you cross the bridge, you'll leave De Kuip and enter 's Gravensgrond (the Count's Ground): this area was originally owned by the Count, not by the city.
