Schloßstraße is an important, representative shopping street in Schwerin. It runs in a southeast-northwest and then west direction from the castle / Lennéstraße / Werderstraße to Marienplatz / Goethestraße. The side and connecting streets were named Lennéstraße after the landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné (1789–1866), Graf-Schack-Allee after the poet, art and literature historian Adolf Friedrich von Schack (1815–1894), Alter Garten after the garden and square from the Middle Ages, Ritterstraße after the medieval knight's court in Ravensburg, Puschkinstraße after the Russian poet Alexander Sergejewitsch Pushkin (1799–1837), Schusterstraße after the profession, Buschstraße after the court architect, architect and sculptor Johann Joachim Busch (1720–1802), Mecklenburgstraße after the country, Marienplatz after the Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg (1803–1862) and Goethestraße after the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832).

The Schloßstraße is the central shopping street in Schwerin. the castle street leads from the castle (Lennestr.) to Marienplatz. The view / line of sight of Schwerin Castle is particularly impressive.
