Urach Castle in Bad Urach on the edge of the Swabian Alb is the only surviving residential castle from the heyday of the County of Württemberg in the late Middle Ages. Its "Golden Hall" alone is worth a visit.
On the edge of the Swabian Alb, in the middle of the picturesque half-timbered town of Bad Urach, lies the late medieval Urach residential castle. The castle complex was built at the end of the 14th century by Count Eberhard III the Mild of Württemberg and was completed in 1400.

The Residence Palace is located directly in Bad Urach's historic old town.

The interiors of the Residence Palace, such as the Dürnitz (late Gothic), the Palm Hall with the ancestral test of Count Eberhard V of Württemberg, the Golden Hall (Renaissance) and the White Hall (Baroque), are particularly interesting in terms of regional and art history.

An exhibition of twenty-two magnificently carved and gilded ceremonial sleighs from the collection of the State Museum of Württemberg Stuttgart recalls the glamorous court of the Württemberg Baroque Duke Carl Eugen (1744-1793).

In the 14th century, Count Eberhard III celebrated the wedding with his Italian bride Antonia Visconti. The Italian wedding brought a large sum of money to Württemberg, which most likely flowed into the construction of the Urach castle. Count Eberhard III. built in close proximity to the old moated castle based on the model of the old castle in Stuttgart. It was finally completed in 1400.
