View of Dettingen and the Ermstal from Buckleter Kapf

Such vantage points make a simple hike an experience. 🙂

We've been up here in both summer and winter. Always my pleasure.

On the eastern (right) slope of the Erm valley, southeast of Dettingen an der Erms, there is the Buckleter Kapf viewpoint on a ledge of the Alb plateau. From this point on the Alb plateau there is an interesting view of the lower Ermstal with Dettingen an der Erms and Metzingen and the surrounding mountains on both sides of the valley. On clear days, the view extends far beyond the Albvorland to the Schönbuch.

The view from Buckleter Kapf, however, is only because the all-encompassing forest has been cleared a little on this promontory. Such interventions in nature have to be understood because they serve to enable people to experience the beauty of the landscape.
