The Urach Waterfall is one of the absolute highlights of the Swabian Alb and, with a total drop of 37 meters in several stages, is one of the highest waterfalls in Germany outside the Alps. It is particularly impressive when the snow melts or after heavy rain, because then a lot of water flows. Together with the very humid and therefore dense and green forest all around, you almost feel like you have been transported to another world. There is a hut at the top of the waterfall where you can get food.

Hiking

How much water the waterfall takes when you visit it depends on the amount of precipitation in the past days or the snowmelt. So it can be between 70 and 420 liters per second, or as in my case, just a few drops :-) Also here at the waterfall you can see that we have had a fairly dry year. The source of the waterfall is a karst spring that rises a few hundred meters from the waterfall.
