What pomp! Weissenstein Castle is a magnificent example of Franconian Baroque. It is absolutely worth seeing from the outside as well as from the inside and the garden is also a feast for the eyes. In 1996 the castle was bought by Dr. Karl Graf von Schönborn-Wiesentheid in a charitable foundation. Guided tours are offered all year round, you can find more information at schoenborn.de/schloss-weissenstein.

The Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden is a representative highlight of the Franconian Baroque. Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden is surrounded by an extensive park, which was transformed from a baroque palace garden into an English landscape park in the 19th century.

Wiessenstein Castle in Pommersfelden was built between 1711 and 1718 under Lothar Franz von Schönborn, the Bamberg Prince-Bishop and Elector of Mainz in Pommersfelden near Bamberg as a private summer residence. It is regarded as the founding building of the Franconian Baroque and is still owned by the Schönborn family.

A visit is absolutely worthwhile. Attention: Hourly guided tours! There is a good cafe nearby.
