The council and community of the town of Perleberg acquired the village in 1392 from the possessions of those from Karstedt. In 1395 it was given to the Heilig-Geist-Hospital (St. Spiritus). In the 15th century the village became deserted. The term "Golm" comes from the Slavic and means a mountain or hill. The village was in the Stepenitz valley north of the river and south-east of the Golmer Berg, which has now largely been removed for gravel extraction.
