Villa Seligmann was built between 1903 and 1906 based on a design by the architect Hermann Schaedtler for Siegmund Seligmann, the Jewish director of Continental AG, and his family. The building was the residence of the family until 1931, who then gave the property to the city of Hanover because of high maintenance costs and tax burdens. After the musician and professor Andor Izsák wrote his story History and Vision in 2006. The Siegmund Seligmann Foundation acquired the property on January 17, 2012. Since then, it has served as the seat of the European Center for Jewish Music, which is associated with the Hanover University of Music. The listed building is now used as a venue for concerts and other events. If you want to find out more about events, you will find it here: villa-seligmann.de

In 2021, Villa Seligmann will be participating in the nationwide festival year “1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany” with an extensive program. Among other things, there are events together with the Hanover Opera, whose current director Laura Berman, herself a Jew, has a strong connection. See also staatstheater-hannover.de/de_DE/1700-jahre
