The Güntherbrunnen is located opposite the district court and was built in 1864 in place of the old brewery fountain on this square. At that time, Prince Friedrich Günther's 50th anniversary of reign was celebrated. The towns and villages of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt used this occasion to honor the monarch with gifts and tokens of appreciation. The city of Rudolstadt erected a monument to him with the Güntherbrunnen. The side outflow arms are in the shape of four mythical creatures. The top of the fountain is the city's heraldic animal - the lion.
