Nice way to cool down after a tiring walk to the fortress. For many tourists, the fountain also serves as a fountain of fortune - at least judging by the coins in the fountain.

Hiking

The Residence Fountain can truly be described as a landmark. After a lengthy renovation, it shines as brightly as when it was completed in 1661. The largest Baroque fountain in Central Europe, it is made of Untersberg marble and depicts a scene from Greek mythology in which Triton, the god of the sea, frolics in the water with hippocampi and dolphins. It certainly makes for a fantastic photo opportunity. In winter, the fountain is completely wrapped and all the water is drained to prevent frost damage.

The Fiaker tours start at Residenzplatz.
A 25-minute horse-drawn carriage tour through the central and southeastern old town is available from Residenzplatz. The western old town with its narrow streets, such as the well-known Getreidegasse, is not used. The approx. 50-minute Fiaker round trip would also lead through the new town past the Mirabell Gardens.
