Limestone and marble quarrying and lime burning formed an important source of financial income for the Maxen manor and the local population over a period of around 600 years - until 1886. Thanks to the efforts of the Maxen population and numerous sponsors, this lime kiln was saved from deterioration and houses exhibition space.

The old lime kiln is located a little below the Maxen open-air stage. You can reach the top over a small bridge and enjoy the wonderful view. Below the parking lot there is also a small snack bar that invites you to have a bratwurst or a cyclist.
