The Edelmannsteig Trail recalls the time before 1852, when no road led through the Müglitz Valley, making the area in Schlottwitz on the slope of the Lederberg difficult to access.
The trail formed the border between the estates of Weesenstein Castle, Liebstadt Castle, and Reinhardtsgrimma Castle.
Noblemen (barons, barons) belonged to the lesser nobility, designated "von" or "zu."
They owned extensive land (arable land, forests, meadows) and often served as chamberlains at the princely court.
To reach their estates in Schlottwitz, they and their messengers had to laboriously forge their way along the Schlottwitz slope of the Müglitz Valley.
The Euelmannsteig Trail led from Weesenstein Castle to the former village of Hütten, the southern part of present-day Schlottwitz. This village, with its old iron hammer, lay on the "Old Iron Road," which crossed the Müglitz Valley at this point.
On the slope of the Lederberg, a section of the path called "Edelmannsteig" is still preserved.
