This former shipping pier probably got its name from the fact that ash from the neighboring rolling mill was dumped into the Rhine here. This is how the foundation for the jetty built in 1922 was built on this mountain of slag. Here, cable drums from Felten & Guilleaume were loaded onto ships with the help of two cranes. However, these were destroyed in World War II.
Today this is a beautiful vantage point.
